Jon Lomøy

Jon Lomøy is Norway's Ambassador to the United Republic of Tanzania since January 2007. He started his career as a Research Fellow at the University of Trondheim and the University of Dar es Salaam. He joined the Norwegian aid agency, Norad, working both in Oslo and in Tanzania, including as Director of Africa from 1993 to 1996. Mr. Lomøy served as Ambassador to Zambia from 1996 to 2000, and later as Deputy Director General, responsible for bilateral aid, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 29 November 2007, Norway and the United Republic of Tanzania signed a bilateral agreement to support Tanzania's efforts to reduce child mortality and maternal mortality. The modality for support is to channel funds through a common financing basket for the health sector, together with a number of bilateral and multilateral partners, with no earmarking of the Norwegian funds.
