Johan Galtung

Johan Galtung is a sociologist, mathematician and the principal founder of the discipline of peace and conflict studies. Founded the Peace Research Institute Oslo in 1959, serving as its director until 1970. Over the last five decades, he has mediated in over one hundred international conflicts, often successfully. He has published over 1,500 articles and more than 150 books, with translations in 33 languages.
